UPDATE FOR MAY 2025

It has been a while, but the Buckden Marina Community Team have been planning and working away to start the process of upgrading the site. As the weather has changed for the better and more people are likely to take advantage of Buckden Marina we have prioritised works that make the site look better and create a safer environment.

CLEARING THE MEADOW

It has taken a considerable effort to clear back the meadow area to make this a useable and reasonable looking space:

CLUBHOUSE CLEAR OUT

Those who have been on-site may have witnessed the huge clear out of the Clubhouse. We are currently working with several partners to plan next steps.

GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMP

This monstrosity has now been drained and removed. We are in the process of returning the area where it was situated back to car parking spaces.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

We have had to temporarily park some projects to put more effort into others, particularly Safety and Security.

BREAK-IN & DAMAGE

Many may be aware that there have been several break-ins and damage caused. Police have been informed and we should all like to thank tenants for their vigilance.

LAWN-MOWING VANDALISM

The grass has been literally growing under our feet - the scheduled grass cutting was delayed as the contractor's machinery was deliberately vandalised whilst on-site. The equipment has been repaired and grass cutting is underway.

HUNTING ARROW

A hunting arrow was found on our site. These are lethal and this has been reported to Police.

CCTV SECURITY

Due to the above incidences we have brought forward the CCTV installation which was planned for later this year as we were unable to provide any evidence to the Police for these break-ins and vandalism. As word gets out amongst nefarious individuals that Buckden may be an 'easy target' we need to protect ourselves. The project had been held up due to permissions and unexpected complications but you will now see the work starting with an expected finish date of the end of May.
